Birthday in Banff

DH's birthday is a few days after Christmas.  As this was a special year, we decided to mark the occasion by taking an overnight trip to Banff to celebrate.

The Christmas tree in the foyer of the Banff Springs Hotel

Posing by another tree in the hotel.  I took a number of photos and this was the best one.  One of the girls kept looking away and another one kept moving and dancing!

A gingerbread replica of the Banff Springs Hotel.  I believe it takes 150 hours to make.

The main hall set up for a wedding reception - isn't it beautiful

Dancing by one of the many small Christmas trees decorating the hallways of the hotel

We had a wonderful visit and hope to return soon.

July 2012 - England Trip

I have been thinking about how best to describe our trip to England.  I was born and raised there and we visit occasionally to catch up with friends and family.  It had been five years since our last visit, when Miss S was nearly 2 and family and friends had never met Miss C.  It was a difficult trip (due, in part, to strained family relationships) and I returned home emotionally drained.

On the bright side, my girls had a great time, despite the rainy weather we had for two weeks.

Scarborough Beach

"Trouble" enjoying the beach
Building sandcastles
Donkeys at the beach
The girls had a lovely morning building sandcastles, dipping their toes in the water and enjoyed two donkey rides.  We then walked the pier and shops and ended the day with fresh fish and chips at a local pub.  Yummy!

Skipton Market
I love the teacups in the window
Exploring the castle

Loving the tortoise

Enjoying the petting farm

Having fun after our picnic lunch
The lambs were waiting for their bottles.  Both girls were lucky enough to feed them!

Beautiful shop, inside and out
I finally visited the museum.  It was lovely.
