8 oz (250g) dark chocolate
2 sticks (1 cup/250ml) butter
1 cup (250ml) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (125ml) cocoa powder
1 teaspoon (5ml) baking powder
pinch of salt
2 cups (500ml) brown sugar
1 tablespoon (15ml) pure vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 350F (180C). Melt the chocolate and butter in a heat-proof bowl set over a small pot of simmering water, stirring constantly. When the chocolate and butter have melted, whisk until smooth.
While the chocolate mixture cools slightly, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt. Add the eggs, sugar and vanilla to the chocolate mixture and mix thoroughly. Stir in the flour mixture until incorporated.
Pour batter into a lightly oiled and floured 9" x 13" pan. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes.
