31 Days of Autumn {Day 9}: Autumn Traditions

Autumn traditions are the perfect way to spend fun, quality time together with family and friends.

Here are our favourite autumn traditions:

1.  Visit the Pumpkin Patch

This is somewhere that everyone can enjoy regardless of age.  Searching for the perfect pumpkin can be a lot of fun!

2.  Take a Family Nature Walk

Again, this is something every age group can enjoy.  Remember to take your camera.  This is the perfect time of year to take family photos outdoors.

3.  Baking

During this season, the girls and I enjoy looking through my cookbooks choosing recipes to try.  We have a great time together, the house smells wonderful and we all get to enjoy our efforts.

4.  Visit the Farmer's Market

We love to visit our local farmer's market to stock up on all the seasonal produce.  The girls get to enjoy face painting, a children's play area and the balloon man (who shapes balloons into animals).

5.  Carve Pumpkins for Halloween

One of the girls' favourite activities for autumn is to help carve their pumpkins.  They help design the face and to scoop all the seeds out.

6.  Visit a Corn Maze

One of my favourite activities for the season.  We all enjoy the jumping pillow, the petting farm, watching the pig races, the tractor train and, of course, the corn maze.

Other ideas:

visit a harvest festival
attend a football game
decorate your home and garden for fall
donate to needy families or volunteer at a soup kitchen
create a scarecrow for your garden
jump in a leaf pile
go apple picking
make homemade apple cider
bake a pie
write an autumn poem

What are your favourite autumn traditions?
