Self-Care: Hot Towel Scrub

Hot Towel Scrub

A hot towel scrub is a wonderful, soothing self-care exercise.  It is great to do first thing in the morning to help wake your body up.  I love to do it before bed to help relax my body for sleep (adding a drop or two of lavender essential oil to the water will help with this).  

All you need is a sink full of hot water and a washcloth.  

Wet the washcloth in the water and wring out.  

Begin to scrub your skin gently until it becomes warm (not too hard, it should feel relaxing).  Work on one section of your body at a time in the following order: fingers and hands, arms, shoulders, neck and face, chest, back, abdomen, legs and feet. 

Reheat the towel as needed in the hot water.

  • Calms the mind
  • Promotes circulation
  • Activates the lymphatic system
